DNV tests underwater carbon dioxide transmission pipeline
Date: Click quantity: 780

According to the world petroleum website on November 30, DNV, an independent energy expert and assurance supplier, is cooperating with wtitere and Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (OTH) to explore how the existing natural gas pipeline in the south of the North Sea can be used for future carbon dioxide transportation.

The specific contents of the cooperation include: the operation fracture test of carbon dioxide pipeline under submerged (water) conditions and comparison with similar tests of open-air pipeline, which is the world's first example in the energy industry.

The purpose of the test is to quantify the potential impact of water around the pipeline on the crack arrest behavior of a specific pipeline, so as to better define the model parameters for different backfill types.
