According to the news of oilfield technology on August 1, Petronas announced that the East cendor oilfield, located in pm304 block 140 km offshore of the Malaysian Peninsula, achieved its first oil production on June 23, 2021.

The oil field is developed by petrofac (Malaysia) Co., Ltd. (petrofac), Kuwait foreign oil exploration company and Petronas carigali under the production sharing contract of pm304 block. Petrofac is the operator of the block.

East cendor is the fourth project in the development series of pm304 block after cendor, West Desaru and irama. The project includes the development of a new wellhead platform (WHP) and the installation of a new 6.3km pipeline to connect the oil field to the existing FPSO cendor. The maximum production of the field is expected to exceed 7000 B / D, which will further prolong the economic life of pm304 block.

Mohamed firouz asnan, senior vice president of management of Petronas, said: "the successful exploitation of oil by East cendor for the first time proves that the Malay basin is by no means a mature oil and gas province. Pm304 block was originally a small-scale oilfield development project, which was first put into operation in cendor oilfield as early as 2006. However, through the continuous evaluation of the potential of the block, the total oil production of the block is still increasing, and the results show that the potential of the block is great. "

"Cendor crude oil is famous for its light and sweet quality. It was once considered to be the most expensive crude oil in the world. With the success of the East cendor project, it is expected that more active development activities will be carried out in the future to monetize a large number of remaining resources in pm304 block.
